The Racine Baseball Cooperative was established in 1991 as a federally approved non-profit organization. The organization was established to promote baseball in the Racine area at the high school / legion level.
Racine Baseball Co-op’s initial hitting center location was in the uptown Racine area, in the vacated Pontiac dealership building. Here the center remained for six years. The initial facility was dimly lit, was not turfed, had two small batting cages, and was moldy from water leaks. However, despite the lack of fancy amenities, the center was a hub of dedicated baseball activity, producing college bound players who spent hours honing their skills.
In 1997, Racine Baseball co-op was able to relocate to 820 Water Street. The facility was fully turfed and housed two full size hitting cages and two smaller cages. This facility became known as the Haban-Jensen Hitting Center based on its location. Here the RBC hitting Center remained until 2016, when it was forced to move for various reasons put forth by the city of Racine.
After a full year of dedicated searching, the RBC board was able to secure a new location for the hitting center. The new location is in the historic Hamilton Beach facility at 1500 High St in Racine Wisconsin. The current facility is fully turfed and provides three new batting cages (one of which is oversized to accommodate fielding practice) and a live pitching bay. With the new facility operational, RBC is dedicated to the continued promotion of baseball at the youth and high school levels within the Racine community.
